In 2013, Jim was living in Villa Park, Illinois, where he worked as a patrol officer in Lombard. At the same time, Kyle resided downstate 3 hours away in Springfield, Illinois, and was serving in the Army. A quick military assignment brought Kyle to the area near Jim. After they met for the first time to watch a movie, they began to spend more time together whenever they had time off from work. Soon after, Kyle transferred to a military station in Joliet and had a key to Jim's studio apartment. He sold his home in Springfield, and from that point on, the two started to merge their separate lives into one. By 2018, they had purchased their first home in Winfield, Illinois, and Kyle was now working for Superior Ambulance.

Jim and Kyle stay active through their jobs, but they also make plenty of time for family, friends, and fun! The two enjoy visiting Jim's family's lake house in Michigan during the warmer months to relax on the pontoon boat, grill fresh food, or take their jet skis out for some adventure on the lake. They love trying new restaurants, although they have a few favorite spots they return to regularly. When they are out west in the rural farmland with Kyle's sister, Candice, and her husband, Jordan, they enjoy off-roading on the side-by-side. They adore their nieces and nephews, cherish spending time with them, and spoil them whenever they can. In the future, Jim and Kyle aspire to start their own family.

Jim and Kyle love to travel whenever they get the chance, creating cherished memories in a variety of locations, including Tampa/Clearwater, Austin, Madison, Fort Lauderdale, Washington D.C., Toronto, Las Vegas, Nashville, Knoxville, Atlanta, and New Orleans. However, their most memorable trip was their first Caribbean cruise with Celebrity Cruises in January 2024. It was during this cruise that Jim proposed to Kyle, who thought, "Finally," as he accepted the proposal with a resounding "yes."

After their wedding, Jim and Kyle plan to honeymoon in Europe in August, marking their first trip overseas. They will embark on the newest Celebrity Cruise ship, the Ascent, departing from Barcelona, Spain. Their cruise will take them along the coast, visiting southern France, and then onward to Italy, with stops in Portofino, Florence, Rome, and Naples. After returning to Barcelona, they intend to spend a few days exploring Spain before traveling by train to Paris. Their trip will conclude in London before they fly back to America.
